Default Passenger front Caliper sticking after pad change

Whats up guys. Tried searching the forums for similar experiences and had no luck so here I am. Just change pads on a 2003 GT for the first time and after putting them on the front passenger side is giving me problems. First of the back side pad didn't slide in very easily and then after putting the caliper back on the brakes stay stuck on a little bit. Not to the point of being locked up but the car wont roll freely and if I drive it too far they start to smoke a bit. Only issue I had before doing the brakes was the e-brake was sticking on. Cant figure it out, hoping I don't need a new caliper.

Did you clean and grease the slides? My first guess is the new pads aren't moving freely enough.

My three fords have had your problem and no one seems to get it! The plastic pistons seem to grow over time and get larger at the pad end. When you push the pistons back in they bind and stick. I've had to replace pistons with steel if posible. Its either that or replace calipers. Replaceing pistons is a challenge. Mianly getting the dust boot in place while inserting the pistons.

I'm presently replacing the pistons in 2004 GT. The car has 18K miles, this piston problem seems to be time dependant. 9-10 years for me and then the brake stick and or start getting hot. Pad replacement moves the piston back into the caliper and on an older vehicle causes the same brake issue,. Also to remove a stuck piston be careful. A 2 x 4 between the caliper and piston helps when you use air to pop it out. (more like explode). Think safety when removing the pistons! Best of luck in your repiars. PS I'm looking for the specs for the brake line tightening torque. no luck so far.
