Default Throw out bearing

I recently purchased a 1999 Mustang GT 5 Speed with 96,000 miles on it, the car is in immaculate condition with no rust, the only issue is when you first start the car there is a metal whirling sound the sound lessens as the car warms up but is still noticeable, its not a horrible sound but it sounds like the whirling of metal, when i push the clutch in i can hear a distinct sound as if spinning metal is rubbing on something, again it is not a horrible noise but it is noticeable, i was told the car may need a new throw out bearing, i plan on putting a new clutch and throw out bearing in about a week, i was wondering if it would be ok to drive the car as long as im not shifting hard or beating on the car, i had a friend tell me not to drive it because i could damage the input shaft which worried me, i would just like to know if it would be ok if i drive the car normally and baby it until next weekend or at the most 2 weeks from now when i put the new clutch and throw out bearing in, Im sorry if i posted this in the wrong area it is my first post as i am new here, Thank you.

I'm inclined to agree with your friend. It might cause damage,it might not,but avoiding that possibility would be a good thing.
For all of the effort to pull a tranny,I'd be replacing every part of the clutch. If you have a vibration,it might be worthwhile to have the flywheel machined or replaced.
Replace the pilot bearing too. That can also give you noise when the clutch is depressed.
