I have a manual transmission, which might be better with 3.73's due to the steep first gear, but I still like my 4.10's. I think an automatic would be better with the 4.10's but have no first hand experience with autos. Moving from 3.23's to 3.73's gives you just a little more than half the change that you would get by going to 4.10's, so there's a pretty big difference between the two.

4.10s are very commonly accepted among the auto tranny guys as the go-to set up.

4.10's it is. Anyone know around how much I should spend? I see Ford Racing and another brand on americanmuscle. com. What should I pay for labor roughly

what are your plans for the car? if its just street, you might like the 4:10 s. if its drag racing you want to match it to what your running at the strip to avoid an extra shift. I have 3:73s, but when I finish my build I'm going back to 3:23s for top speed.

I seem to recall that it cost me about $400 to get the new gears installed, and I paid $165 for the gears themselves.

I found out Saturday the positraction is going out in mine (194k miles) so I told them to fix it and then put some 3.73s in while they are at it. Basically it'll be a new rear end. $750 for everything.

Yeah I can do under $600 for some gears. Thats not bad. I saw the Ford racing ones on americanmuscle.com with the installation for a good price.
