Default Exhaust thoughts/opinions

Well I'm recently new to the 4.6 game, and having some trouble with what kind of exhaust to get. I've always have either foxbody 5.0's or SVO 2.3 turbo cars.
I picked up a 01Bullitt with a stroked 4.6 sohc and a vortech v2. Some joker put flowmaster mufflers in place of the stock mufflers but used the stock pipes. It needs to go.
Now I've heard that flowmasters are horrible at making power, but I love the sound. So give me your thoughts & opinions on a good sounding cat-back exhaust.

I want something that will not make me hate driving the car because it's loud and annoying.

Has anyone heard anything good about flowmaster super 44's?

Thanks

Hey,

Congratulations on the new ride, it sounds like you picked up one sick Bullitt, definitely post us some pictures when you have a chance.

As far as exhausts go, the 44s sound really good and will pick you up some power as well. The only negative to be mentioned is that many of their systems are aluminized steel as opposed to stainless steel and can ware quicker as a result.

In my opinion Borla makes the best sounding and highest quality systems on the market, however they do charge a premium for these. If you can afford their systems, particularly Stinger S type, I know you will be thrilled. Magnaflow, Bassani, and SLP all make great sounding and performing systems as well and they are a little more reasonable priced.

I had the SLP Loudmouth on my 04 and was really pleased with the tone it made, but may be a little aggressive for you taste. Take a look on our site we have clips of nearly every system on the market.

I hope this information helps and if you have any other questions, feel free to get back in touch. Best of luck!

-Dan

The Flowmaster Super 44's are very popular. I have them on my 02. They are very loud outside the car. The cabin noise doesn't bug me at all, you just have to drive it for a week or so to get used to it. Other than that these mufflers will give you the best sounding car on the road.

id look into something like borla or magnaflow. mac makes good products as well with bassani and jba. My personal favorites are glass packs give that old school muscle car sound

Flowmaster sucks, perform poorly and will rust out.

Look into Hooker Max Flow mufflers. One of the best performers and do not cost you your first born.

i have the magnaflow comp catback on my 2003 and it is the throatiest exhaust i've heard imo. i had mac and that rusted out. magnaflow is stainless and very high quality. i think the c/b goes for around 500 nowadays. no drone inside of the car. i cant really comment on power but I liked them enough to get them on my 2012 5.0 as well when i had one

I have a mac catback exhaust and regularly get compliments on it. The sound is a good throaty muscle tone. It is louder when you really put your foot down, but easy to live with during normal driving. The exhaust has held up pretty good so far.
