Default Hurst shift handle won't fit stock shift handle?

I have a brushed aluminum Hurst handle from one of my past cars. Took off the stock shifter **** on my daughters 2000 GT Convertible and wanted to put it on but the inside diameter of the handle is way to small compared to the thread pattern from the stock ****. Is there something to screw onto the larger stock threads that tapers down to a threaded post to fit inside of the HURST handle? Thank you, Mark

I made my own. I just had to drill and tap it.

yes I'm sure that I can figure out the stock size hole of the factory shifter **** and then tap the HURST one to that size, just thought there was a already made piece to screw onto the factory handle and then in to smaller hole on the hurst shift ****. thanks, Mark

What car did it come off? If the **** is too small I think you're out of luck without drilling and tapping it. There might be an adapter, but you at least need to know the thread size of the Hurst **** you have. All 99-04 Mustangs have an M12 x 1.75 thread. I've never seen an adapter to go from a large size to a small one, just the other way around, i.e. a brass piece that screws in to the shift **** to make its hole smaller. To adapt DOWN a size would require something that screws over the shift handle, and that would look pretty funny.

I had this brushed aluminum HURST shifter handle on a Corvette with a HURST shifter shaft. The inner diameter hole on the handle of this ****/handle is way smaller that the threads on the stock shifter arm. I could drill out the threads and tap it to the stock M12x1.75 and it should screw right on i guess...

I haven't seen the inside of one of those but IMO you'd be better off selling it and buying one that actually fits. If it's one of the T handles, you can get those from most auto parts stores for like $20.
