Default I want to tune my car, need help how.

I was quoted to have my car tuned and dyno tuned for 700 bucks, I don't know if this is the normal price but that seems way to much. Is there another way to have it tuned to perform better?

You can get a tuner and an email tune from a company like AmericanMuscle/Bama for ~$400.

Yes, learn to do it yourself...

Buy
Greg Banish's book, Engine Management: Advanced Tuning Greg Banish's book, Engine Management: Advanced Tuning
and read it 5 or 6 times; then buy a competent tuning system, http://www.deltaforcetuning.com/Commando-p/co-5000.htm.

This will have an initial cost of $700 or so, however you will never have to pay again...

Yea a dyno tune is more for highly modded engines like if you have a cam and a blower or turbos etc. For now you'll be ok with a handheld tuner. Some of them allow you to self-tune slightly by adjusting small ranges of fuel and spark trims. But yea for a dyno tune you'll pay around $400-$800 or more depending on the place and how extensive you mods are. But $700 for a dyno tune of a bolt-on 2V GT does seem a bit high...

Hey,

As mentioned by a couple others on this thread, the quote seems to be on the higher side. Getting a dyno tune will generally be the way to get the most power out of the engine, but usually is not the best bang for your buck.

Also as mentioned, a lot depends on your mod list. For your basic bolt-ons a Bama or email tune will be greatly beneficial and much less expensive. If you have forced induction or a built engine the dyno tune will yield much better results.

I hope this information helps, and if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with myself or our Bama team listed below my signature. Best of luck!
