I think I broke it
I think I broke the mustang (02 GT, manual trans)... Put the new tires on today (274/40/17 from 245/45/17, on the rear only) and after taking a left on the way home I heard a violent clank/clunk noise from the rear. It sounds/feels like the LR tire when it happens, and tends to happen accelerating around corners. It also happens occasionally in a straight line. Its definitely coming from in/around the rear axle. Thoughts?

Make sure the tire store idiots tightened the lug nuts--would not be the first time. If they are tight then you have some problem with the LSD clutch pack(s), spider/side gears or maybe broken axle shaft splines.
Another thought, has the differential oil been changed recently? Is so was the proper amount of friction modifier added (if required with the selected fluid)?

You will have to pull the differential cover to change the rear-end fluid--take a good look inside when you've got it opened up...
