8 or 6 bolt flywheel?
Is there a way to find out if I have a 6 or 8 bolt flywheel without pulling the tranny? It's a 2001 GT, any help is appreciated. I know this is kind of a dumb question but I wasn't sure if there was a specific year that it changed.

RE: 8 or 6 bolt flywheel?
Is it a Windsor or Romeo motor? Early 2001s may have had Windsor motors. Windsor's are 8-bolt and Romeo's are 6-bolt. (Note: That said, I have heard that a few Windsor's were 6-bolt.)
If you're unsure of the motor, Windsor's have 13/14 bolt valve covers. Romeo's have 11 bolt valve covers.

Holy crap you guys just hurt my head with your advise.
Look at your door sticker if the is a K under tranny then you have a later 01 model and it a romeo and a 6 bolt crank.

Yes 99-01.5 are windsors and have 8 bolt cranks. They are still cast cranks like the 6 bolt. 99% of the time a mustang with a T45 has a windsor engine in the 99-01 cars. Thats why you check for what tranny you have.

according to sean hyland motorsports, the 8 bolt can handle more ponies than the 6 bolt can,. though if you try to push either to the limit, you break the rods or pistons first.
