Default Keyless entry question

I know there is a thread already going about these, but I had a different question. I have a 97 GT, and I have two keyless remotes. One works beautifully from incredibly far away. The other needs to be 3 feet from the car or less to work. I figure it needs a new battery. How do I change the battery (does it just pop open?) and will it need to be repogrammed after it? (how do I do this?) Thanks!

just pop it open and replace the battery. You wont need to have it reprogrammed either

Default RE: Keyless entry question

George,

Sometimes the new battery doesn't do the trick because the remote itself is actually worn out.

I was looking for replacement keyless entry remotes not too long ago and I found a site that had them for $29.99 for my 97 GT.

I had them delivered in less than a week and the programming instructions only took maybe 10 seconds?

Anyways, here's a link to the site:

Just click the Ford category, or type MUSTANG in their search box.
