Tuning Issues

Tuning Issues
Intro: Have and 03 gt 5spd. Full exhaust with no cats. C&L intake with what measures to be an 88mm maf. But still the stock maf sensor. If that makes sense. Has an SCT xcal3 tuner with 'custom' tunes from american muscle.
Issue is: i have pulled 10 degrees of timing from 0-2k and 5 degrees from 2-4k. And still at speeds lower than 80, if i hit a decent grade i will get some valve rattle. I believe tha max the tuner will let me take out is 14 degrees.
Questions are: Should i really be having to cut out this much timing? Had the car for six months and have slowly been trying to take out more timing and see if it helps on my trips on the interstate. 2ndly there are options for egr and rear o2s to be turned off. What would that be telling the computer and should i turn them off?

I will definitely attempt the stock tune. And let everyone know what happens asap.

I would be surprised if your Bama tune was having detonation issues with the parameters that they set. Though along if you already pulled 10 degrees out. It sounds like there may be something else going on here as well. Have you tried returning the car to stock
and seeing if the issues follows?

Have the tunes always done this? Was the tune written with the C&L in mind? Stupid question but sometimes people don't think about it. What octane is the tank? Has it been raining hard in your area or have you recently washed the car (before the problems started). Water in the fuel could cause issues.
During the summer I have to pull 2-3 degrees at the 2-4K RPM because its so hot here but that's it. With a Dyno run it would be no different if I had a tune written any other time of the year vs the summer I would need to pull some timing anyways.
