Hissing sound from clutch

Hissing sound from clutch
Today when I got into the car I noticed a hissing sound from the clutch as I held it in. This is a first for me. I've had my 01 for four years and this has never happened. It has 80,000 on it if that matters any in a diagnosis. Any help would be appreciated. The clutch works fine btw

When you step on the clutch pedal,it moves an arm which disengages the clutch.Since the clutch is a rotating part, that arm has a bearing on the end, called the throw out bearing. It is either worn or dried out.Either could be the case, and your driving habits can affect it's life.(if you hold the pedal down excessively at lights, etc, that will shorten it's life.)
Unfortunately, the transmission has to be removed to replace it.....and then you get into the "might as well" scenario,as in might as well put in a new clutch since the transmission is out, might as well change the transmission oil, etc.
