Has anybody done their own convertible top?
My 99 GT needs a top, bad, and I've been looking into doing it myself. My father will be helping me and lucky for me he has done a few tops in his day, about 20 years go...lol
I was wondering if there were any quirks or thinks to look out for with this particular year set and where you bought your top from? My two biggest contenders are from LateModelRestoration and topsonline.com.
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Ben

I probably would just pay someone to do it, but that's just because I'd be afraid the finish product may come out looking like I did it, lol.
What little I have heard/read on the subject though from others that have crossed this particular bridge is that it isn't too bad. Having somebody there who has done this before like you will, I say go for it. I would Google something like "how to replace Mustang convertible top" and also see what's on Youtube.
Look around in the "convertible tech/talk" subforum here as well (been a while, think it's hiding in the General Tech section).

After just having watched a guy replace the top on my '06, there's no way I would attempt it myself. He knew all the tricks -- took him about 3-1/2 hours. It would have taken me two days and still wouldn't have come out right!
