hey guys. just bought my first mustang. 96 GT 5 speed. newer magnaflow exhaust. aftermarket mid pipe. not sure what brand and stock headers. O2 sensors were just replaced before i bought the car. CEL came on last night on my way home. pulled code P0156. bank 2 sensor 2. however when i got under the car today the sensor is new and the connection was good. any ideas on where to go from here so i can save money? or should i let my mechanic fix it when he does the state inspection and save the headache?

Forgive me for pointing out what may be the obvious to you, but is it an off-road midpipe? Meaning it has no catalytic converters? If so, the only real way to get rid of the code is to have the rear O2 sensors turned off in a tune or get MIL eliminators.

If you have a catted midpipe, then an option is to swap the the O2 sensors side to side and see if the code follows the sensor. If it does, chances are the O2 sensor is shot and it should be replaced. I know you said it looks new, but hey, weirder things have happened...

yea its a catted mid pipe. ill swap them and see what happens. my fiances cousin sold me the car. hes an honest guy. ase certified lexus tech. he said he replaced them. but your right. weird things happen. thanks for the idea
