Hey all, I previously owned a 2002 mustang GT so I'm familiar with that body style and such. It was to my understanding that all of the 99-04 GT's came with the hood scoop. I went and test drove a 2003 GT the other day and it did not have a hood scoop, the hood looked the same as that of a V6 for the year. Could it have just been replaced, or was it possible that it never had a hood scoop? Thanks

Most likely not the stock hood. Post a pic.

Like Derf00 said, likely not the stock hood. Only the early models, ie 99 and 2000, came with no scoop if I remember correctly.

also the side scoops should SCOOP outward. the v6 had inward scoops on later model new edges. 99s also had an optional mini hood scoop. only in 03 and 04 i think did ALL GT's have big hood and side scoops.

under the hood it may have model details. or example my interior lower door kick plate said 02 yellow convertible, and I had an 01 GT, it was a rebuilt car.

Okay, it did have the correct side scoops for a GT, and the double exhaust had the little valences in the bumper that aren't present on the v6. But I could tell when I popped the hood that the engine was in fact a v8. I guess they just got a different hood haha, I can post a pic later today probably.

Maybe the big scoop was removed? 01-04 GTs had the bigger scoops all around. A few six cylinders did too with a package IIRC.

run the VIN number.. I see a lot of made of GT 's running around.. also 01 had hood scoop and cobra side scoops..
