Pretty major problem with tierod
Hi guys I have a pretty bad popping sound coming from the inner tie rod so replacing it sounds good but its also leaking a lot of power steering fluid right inside the boot and the boot is cut open from the previous owner. So what would be the best idea. I heard of a seal replacement kit for like $60 and tie rod for like $30 and then a boot for another amount in the end replacing the whole rack and piston would be used for $170 or so. Unless there's an easier seal type thing to do I'm not sure. Its a 1997 Mustang GT

A bad tie rod won't cause the rack to leak. The seals in the rack were bad. Check all your other suspension parts. Rotate the wheels front to back to see if the vibration follows. Check the lower steering shaft u joints and rag joint for excessive wear or play. Is the vibration experienced only while braking, accelerating, or all the time?

Popping sound is probably ball joint in the control arm or outer tie rod if you haven't replaced it. Could also be the upper strut mount. Vibration in the steering wheel while braking is warped brake rotors. Replace them.
