Default Mystery Intake Manifold

I've mentioned in another thread I've sort "adopted" the Mustang detailed in my signature. It's my girlfriend's. Her ex at some point bought a used intake manifold that I can only assume was for the Mustang as there haven't been any other Ford V8s around. But I don't know why he bought it. He spent, like, $150 on it. Pic below. Does anybody have any idea if it would be of any benefit, or can anybody tell me what to look for to ID if it is a part that would offer any benefit (i.e. better breathing for instance)?

Is there a Ford logo and part number on it somewhere? It looks like the Ford part, but it might be the non-PI intake. Take a picture of the intake runners where the meet the cylinder head (from the bottom of the intake looking up). FYI, this same engine was used in many FMC vehicles- F150s, Town Cars, Crown Vics, etc etc. There are literally millions of these engines out there.

If not, it's likely a Dorman, and they are junk. They are not shaped right, and you will lose power compared to the stock Ford Racing intake. The Dorman part also typically makes access to the #2 and #3 spark plugs very difficult.

Here is the Ford part: http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...res-Lrs-10153A

Same part, costs less: http://www.americanmuscle.com/intake-manifold.html

Looks like a factory intake for 99-01 (all plastic). Its toast however. The heater hose inlet (upper left corner) is broken off.

Oh wow...bummer.

Well why would a guy spend $150 on this thing?? Is it possible this is original the car and the one the guy bought is now on the car? Can you tell from the pics below if it is the stock manifold?

Take pictures of the intake that's on the engine now.

you wouldn't want to use it anyway, it has the plastic coolant crossover.

So I took a short video of the intake manifold currently installed in the car. It's down below. The manifold in the car is definitely different than the Ford part above. The one in the car doesn't have any identifying marks that I can find, has the aluminum coolant cross-pipe, and has voids in between the runners such that I can see down to the top of the engine block through the manifold, as opposed to the Ford part which has solid webbing in between the runners.
