Default Electrical Great!

Hey guys, So my 96 gt has decided it doesn't want to stay turned off in the wet. The flashers come on, on there own. Also, the doors lock and unlock sometimes when the car is turned to on. The horn will sometimes honk when unlocking it too, like when you lock it twice. Is it a bad wire/switch somewhere or do you think it is is the anti theft? Seems like it is killing my battery even if the flasher don't come on too, not sure though. Any suggestions where to start the search would be much appreciated. There is an obvious tear in the rubber wire booty on the driver side, that I am going to go patch now. Thanks in advance.

So I removed fuse 16 for the anti-theft unit and the blinker issue went away, but the locks are locking and unlocking turning the car from start back to run. I'll find out in the morning if it drains my battery again. Any thoughts anyone?

You definitely have a short somewhere with some exposed wires. Moisture is getting in there when it rains and shorting things out. Likely culprits are the wire loom that goes through the door and the window switch in the drivers door. Good luck...

Yeah, i'm going to try to pulled the door switch panel off and take a look. I'm hoping it was just the tear in the rubber cover by the door hinges though. I hate electrical problems, I'd rather blow a rear end.

A torn rubber boot wouldn’t cause this problem. You have a damaged wire somewhere shorting out that you need to fix. If you just tape up the boot and cover up the problem its just going to come back and bight you in the a$$ later. Good luck...

I agree I do need to find the root cause, but it does seem like the anti-theft module is shot is part of it. I do have the the anti-theft turned off in my tune. I don't know what that really does though. Anyone familiar with it that feature in sniper tuning software? I'd be willing to bet it does nothing for my 96.
