Cool A/C Blows Hot Air... FIXED.

Hey Guys,

So I won an '02 GT off of ebay last week and the seller said the a/c worked in the listing. Not really a big deal for me. When I went to pick up the car, the seller said the a/c wasn't working and he'd give me $200 off because he felt bad. So I'm like, sweet. Lol.

Anyway, I started researching the forums and read up on all the different possibilities and was preparing myself for the worst, filling up my ebay shopping cart with potential parts along the way.

So before I starts throwing parts at it, I got a couple cans of refrigerant and I tried adding some but it wouldn't take any. I pressed the schrader valve nozzle and some came out so Im like, hmmmmm. I then went into the glove box and grabbed the owners manual and went straight to the fuse section and saw where there was 2 different fuses for the A/C. One being under the dash and one being in the power distribution block under the hood. I checked the one under the dash and it was fine.

Then I went and checked the one under the hood, #24- A/C Pressure 20 Amp fuse and sure enough, it was MISSING! So again, I'm like, hmmmm.... I went into the garage grabbed a mini 20 amp fuse, inserted it into the #24 slot and went into the car, put it in neutral, fired it up, and switched the HVAC control setting to MAX a/c and within seconds I was turning into an icicle! Brrrrrrrrr! Sat in the car basking in the frigid air that was engulfing me to my very core. Turned the air off, turned the car off, stepped outside and had to wait several minutes for my glasses to unfog before I could see anything. Lol

Anyway, just be sure to check your fuses first if you are having this problem. Thought I would share my experience. Im just wondering why the fuse was missing in the first place.

That's cool it was something simple. The fact that the fuse was missing though makes me wonder if this simple fix will be long-lived; I'm sure you'll find out one way or the other soon enough.

My thoughts as well. Time will tell.
