I have never taken anything to a shop in my life. I like my money and like keeping a large amount of it. Transmission rebuild at a shop will run around $3000 with parts and labor, Buy a good used one and put it in yourself $1500. If your stupid and hate money feel free to take it to a shop or take 3 hours of your day and a 12 pack and do the simple swap yourself.

By the way I ran an ATV repair shop and know how much money I got for very little work and I even charged 1/2 of the local dealers on every job. I made a ton of money (enough to retire and never work again) all because people were to lazy to learn and do it themselves.

Guys, thanks for the input, I have a nephew that enjoys this kind of work, we were thinking about doing the rebuild our selves and I also came across the Jerry Mod as well. Now I need to figure out which rebuild kit to go with. After a little research I found out the 4R70w can be a really good transmission if done right especially with the J-mod. and a tranny cooler.
