How much oil for a 2001 GT?
Hello, I just did an oil change on my 01 GT with a blower on it and I'm having an extremely hard time finding out if I added the right amount of oil. I put in 5.5 quarts. Every thread I have looked at seems to be completely divided. Some people use 5 some use 6 some use 6.5, etc.
I don't want my engine to be hurt, did I add too much? The dipstick is useless. Even with 5 quarts the stupid thing reads over the full line.

5 quarts is definitely low. If you didn't change the filter, 5.5 is good. If you changed the filter, do 6. Do you want to be safe anyway? Do 6 quarts.
EDIT: I just reread you had a blower on it. It doesn't change things "too much", but just be safe at 6 quarts. Many will say they run fine with 5.5, but if you aren't penny pinching or want to be safe then do 6.

6 qts to fill.
The original factory fill recommendation was 5 qts and then revised and made retroactive to include the '96 - '01 m.y.'s in 2002. For 2002 and the revised recommendation there were no changes made to the engine beyond a new dipstick that reads "full" at 6 qts instead of 5.
Although in theory it would make sense to run an additional 1/2 qt (beyond the 6 you should already have in there) or so to accomodate for the blower, I'm entirely unsure if that would be necessary, and with a stock pan it may even be potentially harmful should capacity be exceeded there and cause oil foaming due to the crank dipping into the oil.
