Default Newbie on modding, HELP AND TIPS NEEDED

Alright, so i'm very new to modding vehicles, i recently bought a 02 mustang GT. only maintenance I've done on it so far, is changing the spark plugs, and a couple oil changes. I've recently been planning my build, but before i install anything, i have a question about the way the engine idles. well first off, it sometimes revs itself, idk if that would be because of it "Warming up" or because at these times I've had the heat on? also, its not an attractive idle, is there any way i can improve it?

If you have not owned It from new, I would be sure the air filter is clean, the MAF is clean. Check your IAC to see if the Rev issue is related to that.

If you have the hvac controls turned to either of the defroster settings then it runs the a/c compressor. The idle changes slightly as the compressor cycles on and off.
