Default BOUGHT FIRST AUCTION CAR

just finished my sons 02 v6. so I thought why not try the Ins auction. So I won a 03 GT with 105k miles. Exterior is perfect, no scratches dings or dents. only thing missing is the hood scoop. Inside I just need to replace air bags. Seats are leather and are in great shape no rips or tears. Drive train everything good there too. upon inspection underneath, looks like they hooked up with a curb, broke the steering rack and bent the k-frame all to heck. After repairing this I may sell it or I may keep it. not sure yet. my question is knowing what ive told you, should I find an oem k-member or one of the after market ones. oh and the brakes don't work for some reason, but i'll figure that out later. To take out the k-frame i'll be using a engine support bar, and have the car on stands. should be some good solid fun, no pun intended

If you are going to sell it and try to turn a profit, then go the cheapest way possible to fix.

A good 03 GT,with that mileage,is what? a $5000 car? I'm picking that number as no one was beating a path to my door when I offered a minty 04 GT convertible with 74k @ 8000.Sounds like you have a lot a work and parts to fit within that price range, and still make a profit.I imagine that it also has salvage title? Probably a car that you repair, enjoy for a while, and then sell.

I talked to the owner who bought it last May, He paid 13k for it. Hit a curb and spun out. Not too much damage. I'll have about 1200-1400 in parts.
But you're right, i'll probably keep it . Its super clean. And yes it does now have a salvage title.

I imagine that the brake issue is a sheared line.I'd put a used K member in,and keep the car as original issue as possible.

I have a k-member and steering rack coming tomorrow from LKQ.
then I decided to upgrade the end links, motor mounts, lower control arm bushings, steering rack bushings and tie rods all with prothane poly. The brake filler has fluid in it, so yeah maybe its sheered somewhere and pinched. All the parts should be here this week and next. I forgot how much I love the v-8. I used to have a 67 w/ 351 w.

I wouldn't compare a 67 with a 351 to a lame 99-04 gt, but yeah they do sound nice.
