Default Newbie looking for help

I apologize for any redundancy in this post. I have read a lot of posts but would like some fresh advice. I have a '99 GT with the following mods.

SR Performance TB/plenum
SR Performance underdrive pulleys
SR Performance CAI
Pypes off road h-pipe mated to stock manifold
Magnaflow XL mufflers
4.10 gears
Custom tune

My car has been dyno'd at 245hp/286tq. I was considering a S/C but just don't have the funds. So I would like to know what else I can do short of forced induction to get decent gains, perhaps get to 300hp at the wheels. So am I looking at headers, camshaft, other internals? I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Do you have a particular cam you would recommend? What about this one?

Go to lmr.com and get the 270 cam, AM doesn't carry the 270 from comp cam and 278 is too aggressive for a daily imo, but just make sure you get the new cam bolts $24, springs and retainers about $250, and there's a discount for that site, you just have to search the web a bit. Just make sure you get them degreed properly and you will need a dyno tune for those though.

Cams won't get you to 300rw, but pretty close. Figure a solid 280rw.

Maybe N2O could be an option for you?

You can get a bit past 300rwhp while staying N/A but after you look at your parts invoices you'll wish you just got a blower instead (because you could have).

I am thinking cams and shorty headers (because I already have a mid-pipe with no cats). With a dyno tune I should be close to 300rwhp, right? I have about $3k to spend.

The specs for the 270 cam say "rough idle" and "Requires aftermarket pistons or deeper flycut on factory pistons. Do not run with unmodified factory pistons as engine damage will occur." That is not what I want. Even the 260 requires aftermarket pistons. The 250 does not require any upgrades.

If you have 3 grand to spend I would really think about the $1500.00 SC build. Right now there's a Procharger head unit on corral.net for 900 bucks. Take some time price everything together and you'll be looking at a 380-400 rwhp mustang. Also shortys will be a complete waste of money (been there done that). A couple years ago I had every Bolt on under the sun and dynoed at 277 rwhp. If I'm not mistaken the only way you'll get 300 rwhp NA would be cams and good set of heads.
