Yeah, my 98 had a return, which I just left hanging when I put the 01 motor and pump in.

There are some bastard cars out there in every brand. I seen a few 99 GT's with npi heads and reported that the engines were original.
Heck, I hav a 86 c10 that had the factory tbi injection. I was told it wasnt original and 86s didn't come with it but considering the original owner didn't do anything to it but mantaince, and it had the complete body tbi harness, it could be original.
