1998 Gt mach 460 stereo wiring nightmare
I need some help with my stereo. I purchased the car last summer (98 Gt) and someone hacked apart the stereo system, looks like they tried to put an amp and subs under the back seat. There is no place for a radio fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. Someone just took the fuse holder out unless the mach 460 system didn't use that fuse. I'm pretty sure i have the wire colors correct but I am a little confused on the connectors. There is one connector that comes out from behind the glove box which connects to a connector that goes into the amp. Then there is a connector which I believe goes to the radio. I wired everything up and nothing, no illumination on the stereo, nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe D.

Go to the Crutchfield website and read their article on the mustang 460 system.
I'm literally in my driveway right now with the seats out of my 2001 gt vert. Running all new wire for my amps, speakers and head unit. I completely eliminated the stock system. It's a pain in the @$$ but at 15 years old the stick system was shot.

What was the outcome?
If your curious I finished mine up last Sunday. I just ran new wiring to everything. I pulled the original 2 amps out, pulled the door speakers and back seat speakers (convertible ). Then wired up an amp. Ran my 12v power from the battery through the fire wall, under the carpet to the amp, the remote wire from the back of the radio and the rca channel lines under the carpet to the amp. Then the ground to the car by the amp. I then ran new speaker wire from the amp to each speaker. I left allthe original harnesses in place just disconnected. I also added a self powered sub, saves space.
Everything works great.
