Default Will 96-98 cams work on 99+?

I bought some stage 1 cams but turns out they were the wrong cam years, they have a .5 lift and not a .55 like the later models, will these cams still work, is there a down fall to these?

To the best of my knowledge the cams are the same 96 through 04 fitment wise, 96 - 98 NPI have less lift and duration, something like 0.43 or 0.46 lift.

The 99 -04 had PI cams and had 0.50 lift, if the cams you have only have 0.50 valve lift i don't think they are stage one N/A cams.

i have been searching this topic, all the stage one cams i found on the internet are all 0.54 to 0.55 exhaust and 0.55 intake valve opening (Lift).

I want to do this mod so bad and if i had $569.00 bucks i would be buying Cushman 2V N/A Stage One cams, no spring work or tune needed. In fact this will be my next mod

Its all about the lift and duration, hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in

The cams i have are comp cam 102100, they're for non pi heads, they have a .5 lift, pi cams use a .55 lift. Duration in these is 262/270 well 224/232 at .5 lift, but idk how these cams work, if lift is an issue, if it affects springs etc.

I'm pretty sure they will work just fine, really the only difference is the .500" vs .550" lift issue. Not sure how much of an adverse effect losing 5 hundredths of an inch in how far the valve opens will have on performance - whether it would be negligible or noticeable. If it were me I would want to know the definitive answer to that before installing them, cams are a sh¡t ton of work to possibly end up putting something substandard in there and not be getting the most out of it.

Believe it or not i enjoy working on my car, i would do a cam swap without even thinking about it, but this isn't my dd

i'm soon buying Cushman Motor Sports 4.6L 2V PI Stage One Cams. No valve springs or tune required.

The Stage Two is more money than i want to put in the car between needing new springs a tuner and the cams, gaskets and so on your looking at $1,200.00 to 1,400.00 i can do the stage one for under $650.00

They are claiming 25 to 30 RWHP, sorry for hijacking the thread
