Hi all, my son drives a 2000 GT, and he called me early this morning to tell me that he was driving on the highway when the radio stopped playing, the lights went out and the gauges quit working. then the car stalled and he had to push it to the side f the road. Wouldnt start at all, totally dead. then 10 minutes later it started right up. Very recently he replaced the battery, which had been overcharged, and the alternator, which was doing the overcharging. Any ideas what caused it to quit today? Replacement alternator is suspect to me.

I suspect that everything went simultaneously,not in series.
I'm not too knowledgeable on the effects of faulty alternators,but my first impression is that I'd be suspect of the fuel pump.

If the alternator was bad, it wouldn't have started right back up in 10 minutes without a jump.. I suspect a loose connection or ground somewhere...battery clamp not tight/dirt/corroded...

Thanks for the responses, it turned out to be a loose connection at the alternator. Plug wasnt pushed in far enough. Problem seems to be solved.
