Default Wiper Cowl broke when installing strut tower support

I read on this forum that this wiper cowl would break, so I was aware of that, I was wondering if anyone out there picked up the 2 piece replacement cowl before.
Seems like there might be a lesser chance of breaking it verses the one piece

Thanks

Common issue, mine cracked in a couple places years ago when I installed a STB. Has gotten worse lately and will be replacing soon with a genuine Ford unit ($200). There are cheaper options, AM has a generic one for $130 but fitment is not perfect. If you can deal with fitment being a little off then go for it or one like the 2-piece you mentioned. Personally it's worth the extra $70 to me to not have to look at the rubber strip separating from the cowl before you even have the part installed or a gap where the rubber strip is supposed to meet the windshield.

This is one of the mostly rare instances where aftermarket parts are inferior, IMO.

I bought one from AM and the rubber strip was separating from the cowl and there was a gap at the ends where the rubber strip is supposed to meet the windshield. I guess some things never change. Like Z28KLR stated, spend the extra money and get the real deal this time. Remember to try and not loose the clips that hold the cowl in place. I believe you will need them for the new one.

Ford must have made these things out of sheet glass because mine shattered too. I ponied up and bought the FoMoCo replacement and so now I guess I'm good for another 14 years until this one shatters too.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I might want to go ahead and get one to have in stock just in case they start making them out of unobtainium.

Well, I wish I would have spoken to a few of you before I ordered my $139.00 cowl from American Muscle, what a piece of crap. I plan on returning it and purchasing OEM
I can't believe AM would if sell this product

^ You gotta read the product reviews at AM, there are a ton of them for that cowl saying basically what you just said.

Z28KLR,
I actually did read a portion of the reviews, there are 71 reviews on that product, 2/3 of them are happy with the product

Yeah I know, I read through some of them too. It's the 1/3 that reported issues that I found alarming. Something else I look for on there - and maybe this will sound kinda f'd up, but there's that part at the bottom of somebody's review where it lists what car they have. If it's a V6 guy, unless the review is well written or detailed I pretty much discard anything they have to say, lol. Dunno what it is, but V6 owners seem to think that everything is **** - could be a well known crappy product and all the V6 guys are leaving 4 and 5 stars.
