$5-7K is probably your range. Since specific values vary regionally, I would check on KBB and any other car value references for what they say, and then go on Autotrader and see what other cars in similar condition in '02 - '04 model year are going for in private party sale within 100 - 200 miles of where you live. Price accordingly.

Thank you.I now plan to have the seat repaired.Whether I keep the car or sell it,it will certainly help the appearance. The interior is very nice otherwise. The seat back bolster will be resectioned. The upholstery shop also noted that the lower seat cushion needs some new foam for the entry edge,as nothing is really there between the leather and the frame top on the outside of the seat.
To deal with the ABS issue seems more problematic. My code reader cannot communicate with the ABS system,so I guess that makes the issue to be the module or pump.

I just reupholstered my driver's seat using TMI seat foam and replacement leather from Richmond Upholstery (eBay).

That looks great,Gadgetech!
I figure that I need just the seat back cover and foam set,so that would cost 275+177.452 total.
To have the shop resection my seat back, and replace part of the seat foam, would be 400.I think that I would might get better results with new components, though it might be more noticeable.
How difficult did you find the installation? Did the color match the right seat well enough? Thank you.

My driver seat had gotten to the point that it looked as if terrorists had flown a plane into it. I considered various options - TMI kit (very pricy, plus probably pro installation), used 99-04 Cobra seats (just as old and almost as worn as the ones I was replacing and still wanted a high price) and then finally settled on S197 seats.

Not much work to get them in, they keep a very stock look to the interior and the comfort quality of the seat is light years ahead of the seats our cars came with - useable head rest, effective side bolstering, little bit lower seating position that makes you feel like you're sitting IN the car and not ON it.

If you are prepared to spend a little money anyway (and with the TMI kit you definitely will) then some used S197 seats off Ebay should definitely be considered and could even end up being less costly. All things considered - the seats, shipping and a trip through the hardware bins at Home Depot for bolts to swap seat brackets, my total investment was maybe $900. The TMI kit just by itself is damn near that much and you may still need replacement foam and pay somebody to install it.

Thought I had a better pic than this but here's one just to show them in the car....

I've never installed seat foam nor a leather seat cover. Extremely easy and the match is awesome. The TMI foam is a bit thicker than stock seat foam though, not terribly noticeable visually but you'll notice it when you sit on it.

So, are the S197 seats direct bolt-ins using our original brackets?

Yup. I used a thread from SVTP (link below) as my "guide" for the most part, but basically you just retain your existing brackets, take a few measurements and drill holes into the seatpans of the S197 seats to mount your SN95 brackets. The wiring for the driver seat power features is covered in page 2 of the linked thread.

There are also some aftermarket bracket adaptors available online (I saw some on Ebay a while back) that will allow you to keep the S197 brackets but they were going for almost $200. For an afternoon's worth of work I figured I would keep that money in my pocket.

Google "S197 seats in SN95" for more info if the thread below doesn't cover it for you.

Decided that I was equally fine with having the car as my second car,or just downsizing and using my other car.Probably a strange notion for some of you,but when get into your sixties, simplicity has a lot of appeal.
Listed it at a firm 6k on Autotrader. It sells for that or it doesn't,within the next few weeks. After that,I'll buy a foam kit,a new seat back cover, and I'll keep it longer or raise the price. No big deal either way.
