Post Tranny Bolt Stuck!!

Hi guys! Just recently joined the forums, and was wondering if anyone could give me a few ideas. So I was changing out the clutch on my 02 GT and while i was taking out the tranny bolts I got all of them out (even the dreaded 2 at the top) except 1. That 1 I ended up stripping. I would hate to have to send it to a shop just because i stripped 1 bolt. If anyone is familiar with the tranny bolts its one on the passenger side 1 down from the one on the top. It just wouldn't budge and I could feel the bolt just getting killed as i turned. It got to the point where i was moving the entire tranny as i pushed (of course i had it supported so it wouldn't fall on me or my buddy).

So my question really is how would i go about getting this bolt out after its been stripped. There is room down there, but its not a lot of room. I was able to spray Liquid Wrench on it so I could spray something on it. I'm at work atm so i wont be able to put any pics up of it, but i can after i get home if you guys need that. I'm open to any ideas. Prices to get things fixed in Hawaii are crazy. The cheapest I got quoted to get it off and swap clutches/flywheel was $600. I dont want to pay $600 for them to take off 1 bolt that i couldn't get. Thanks for checking it out. Hopefully you guys have some suggestions. If it's a lost cause then just say so lol.

Did you strip the threads or the outside?

Is it the last bolt? If so, then maybe the weight of the tranny is putting some pressure on it?

I would have to see a picture to give you any ideas but a good shop will be able to remove the bolt for not very much. Probably an hour of labor give or take.

The outside is stripped. We used a Jack to raise the back so there wouldn't be any pressure on the bolt. I was debating using a screw extractor and drill it out that way.

You can weld another bolt to the bolt and take it out that way. Or the screw extractor method but it seems odd to me that it happened in the first place.

If there is ample room you can hammer on a 12 point socket and see if it sticks.

hammer on a socket, and try heating the block up. worse case scenario just cut the bolt head off, remove trans then go about extracting the stud left behind

This, I bought a set when I once had a caliper bolt head strip. They work well.

these style work pretty well. also, dont discount welding a larger nut on there. for whatever reason the act of welding on the head usually breaks apart any corrosion holding the threads in there as well and it will come right out.

for future reference, try and buy or rent or borrow an induction heater tool like the mini-ductor. once you use it it is very hard to go without.
