Default Paint codes

So I have a 2003 Redfire cobra, I believe it is a G2 paint code but I forgot to write it down after looking at it. I am in the process of rebuilding my 91 f350 and would like to use the same color as long as it's not rediculously expensive to do. I was hoping of anyone could tell me of it is just the single stage base/clear on the 03? I had an 02 that was torch red(?) (I don't know the paint code) and when it got hit in a parking lot it was some super expensive 3 layer paint that was used and a bitch to match, is the Redfire the same Or is it the single stage? Obviously I'm not building a show truck so I would like to keep it on the cheaper side.

Your '02 that had the 3 stage paint was probably Lazer Red (E9), it looks just a shade lighter than Redfire Metallic (G2).

I can't say for sure but I think that Redfire Metallic is a single stage paint (doesn't use the "candy" topcoat like E9 which is the part that makes it more expensive and more difficult to match to existing). I have two Explorers in G2; in sunlight E9 factory paint can look a little blotchy due to less than 100% perfect application of the topcoat (you gotta look real close, but it is there), whereas my Explorers don't have that issue. Call a local body shop and ask, they should be able to definitively answer your question pretty easily.
