Default 3.73 Gears on a 1999 GT?

Hello everyone, I have a 1999 Mustang GT. I have a Superchip, Tri-axe shifter, 2 Chamber Flowmasters, Off-Road Mac-Prochamber, and a Mac Cold Air Induction.

I wanted to ask you all a question. I want to put 3.73 gears on it. Would everyone recommend that or should I not do that. What kind of results do you all think I could get with the 0-60 and the 1/4 mile? Thanks and appriciate all your help.

Also, what kind of underdrive pullies should I get, if any? Are they worth the money?

Thanks

well 3.73 will help but it will also make it easy to smoke the tires on launch& eat up more gas.

I'd say if you can lauch good you might see 2to3tenths quicker in your 1/4mile(if the weather is good)

as far as the pullies go steeda makes the best from what I have seen their bit more costly but you don't have to bolt on your harmonic balancer to the crank pullie

like other kits; it is one. and as far as I know its the only race approved one.

hope that helps

Thanks for the help, but what about from like 0-60? I mean would there be like a slight improvement or a major improvement?

go with the 3:73. and as for the underdrive pullies, i have the BBK kit and i have no problem with it. The only thing i did was upgrade to a 140amp alt, but you should have that already. good luck

What would I have to do to make my speedo accurate though? Is there any way to do it without spending a bunch of money? Would I have to burn the chip and tell it that I have 3.73 or what? Anyone know how much to reburn a Superchip? <img border="0" src= smileys/smiley5.gif>

To make the speedo accurate u can change the gear at the end of the speedo cable (on the trans)it might still be alittle off but it will be alot better. About the chip, you can send it back to superchips and they will reprogram it for you. Maybe check stillen out...i know they set up some good custom chips.
