Default check engine light

can the check engine light come on when i dont use 93 octane gas...because for the past week i use 89 and the light came on. Or could it be something else?

It's something else, switch back to premium fuel and see what happens, if nothing happens you need to start diagnosing <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

Do you have a chip or the computer reprogramed. Or do you have a timing adjuster. If you got wither of them, then thats your problem. Cause with the advanced timing, you need that 93 octane gas, or your C/E light will come on. If you don't you might wanna start checking out the pollution control crap on your car.</P>

Buy an OBD II scanner and get a Diag code...thats the most practical step to do .</P>

I bet you got some s**tty gas. keep an eye if your car becomes a bitch to start. Whati mean is it starts the nshuts right back off then you got some s**tty. gas $50 to buy a new fuel intake.

Good point,it was probably loosely placed and leaking the vapors out, one thing that can trigger the CEL.</P>
