hey guys i drive a 98 gt with your basic bolt ons, headers, cold air, h pipe, cat back, etc...and i really need some help on exactly why my engine is sputtering and cutting out almost when i hit about 5000 RPM. it doesnt do it all the time, but a good percentage of it. It feels as if power is not to the maximum. Ive been told that it could possibly be the plugs and plub wires. Im i correct?(please correct me if im wrong!) thanks,

mm..is 98 Coil on Plug or do you still have a distributor? Also the fact it's at such a high RPM I would almost rule out the cap/rotor/wires/plugs/coils. I would say check your MAF sensor. Clean it out and clean the throttle plate.

Derf is right...most ignition problems show up on the low end of the rpm range. High end is usually a fuel supply/management problem. Which can be anything from a MAF to fuel pump. When is the last time the fuel system has been serviced? Injection kit? Fuel filter? etc..

Believe me,it could be spark related.If you have more than 70-80 thousand miles on the plugs or wires it's time for to replace them.Go with spiral wound low impedance wires.It could also be a restriction in the fuel system.A new filter and a pressure check would be in order.
