2003 GT Vert Mod Help?!?
I just bought a 2003 GT Convertible and am having the time of my life. It's too bad the "normals" don't know how much fun these are to drive!!!
I plan to drive the car stock until winter (live in MN-I have an Explorer to drive in the winter.) I'll swap the Air Filter for a K & N when it needs to be changed, but beyond that I'm at a loss as far as what I should do next. After driving the Explorer for a few years I'm having a blast driving the Stang so far, but I want to plan for my mods this winter.
If I plan to run the car stock until next spring (or until I learn to push it to it's limits) what should be next? During the warm months this is my daily commuter. I don't plan on drag racing, but I would like the best performing car possible...
I'm guessing (after reading this forum) that gears should be first? Should I do 3.73 or 4.10? This is my daily commuter, but I don't care too much about gas mileage. (The Explorer gets ~17mpg, so anything better is a bonus).
Next would be a Cold-Air Kit and Exhaust. Which Cold-Air is best? (BBK, MAC, Steeda?) I gather that a Flowmaster System is the preferred system as far as exhaust. What else should I consider? I am looking for something that sounds mean, but won't drone at highway speed. (I want something that sounds like a muscle car or Ferrari in 1st-3rd gear, but sounds like my neighbors Volvo in 4th-5th. Am I dreaming???)
Gentlemen, I haven't done squat to my GT and would LOVE your advice as to what I should do to it!!!
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!!!

l heard that MAC cold air kits give you a mean sound. For the exaust, you could get a h-pipe or a x-pipe. h-pipes sound better than x but x performs better than h. Get a bigger cam but don't go higher than 265 degrees of duration. For the gears, l would say get 3.73s if the car will see a lot of highways. rpms will be around 3000 at 55-65mph.

Like he said the h pipes sound better but if i were you i would go with the X if you can. as far as a new cam once again like he said 265 is the most you want. i would put in a new cam last out of all the things we are talking about here. Go with the 3:73s you will be very happy you did!
