how easy is it to install gears in the reaer end?

search around and find a how-to..it couldnt be too extremely hard, and you'll save alotta cash doing it yourself

just pay someone. Ive ridden in a few cars that non-mechanics have installed the gears, including mine when i bought it(got replaced) and if you dont install the gears perfectly you will hear the most annoying whineing sound

Very true, you have to be able to shim it all corectly or you are going to get the most annoying whine while you are driving.

don't bother trying it yourself. depending on the area, $300 is usually the going rate for install on average. some get it for 200, some 250, you get the idea.
