Default Mustang brotherhood....I need your HELP!

Somebody please recommend a shop in LA county for engine work! Have a 00 GT with crank/bearing noise. I think its rebuild or replace time. I know a Fleet Manager at the local Ford dealer but they want $5,000 out the door for a Ford direct remanufactured long block, clutch, and rear end gasket. Is that a deal?

Are you sure you need to replace the bearings on the crank. You know there not ball bearings, they are just a soft metal with a grove in them to facilitate in oiling. Have you run the motor without changing the oil for a long time, or over heated it, or ran it with real low oil. I couldnt really see a need for you to replace them otherwise. The bearings dont move, or atleast they arent supposed to. You could spin the bearing then you wouldnt have proper oiling of the crank and that woudl be very bad. I think you have some other problem, mabye smething alot more simpler than rebuilding the short block.

B&D Racing in Canoga Park, CA. As far as I'm concerned, they are the only game in town. Ask for Brian.

If you are patient, you can probably find an 03/04 cobra that crashed and pick up the the whole drive train at an auction for 3k-5k.

Yeah, don't do it. Hell I've seen 600HP crate engines going for $5600.. If you gunna pay 5K for a ford remanufactured motor, save the money and find a way to make the crate fit, lol.

Definitely not worth the money. Do some more research.

i'd find a 5.4 or a 03 cobra motor and swap it in there... would be a crap load cheaper than a 5k probably
