Nah man, dont worry.

Water gets in their all the time, plus they are suppose to be exposed so air can get in there.
Most people have them blocked off with some kind of netting or something, just so leafs and other big things cant get in. But still so air can pass thru. Others leave them wide open. Either way you'll be fine. Closing it off is stupid.

When i first got the hood it had no hole in the scoop, so I made one and put a screen from a used air filter that i painted silver and glued that behind the scoop. Now when it rains, I have cut out a plexy glass insert to fit the hole so no watter gets in there whene it rains or if i wash the car. I do this to keep the engine bay clean and i have had problems with getting the engine wet before. The plexyglass makes it look like there is nothing there.

letting water get in there could end up causing problems in the long run.........at the very least your engine bay is going to get very dirty very fast.

I guess I'm opposite of the others. I love the scoop, but it would look better on a normal cowl. I think the "stepped" sides on that cowl makes the hood look too busy.

How's the 5.4 build coming anyway? I have been secretly taking notes because I was thinking of doing the same thing. MUAHAHAHA!

You should be fine if water gets on your engine, you have water tight weather connectors. The only thing that will happen is your block will rust faster, along with some of your exposed ground connections. If you look under your intake manifold you have a perfect spot for an inch or so worth of water to puddle. I wouldnt worry about it in regular rain, but if you live in florida where there are down poors, you could get alot of water covering your motor real quick, exspecially if your doing 60 on the highway in a downpoor.

i have an active hood scoop......and there is a drain so the water doesn't get into the intake. but it still drains into the engine bay.
