I am new to this forum and have been reading some of the posts and feel that there's some good information happening around here. I'm kind of new to the Mustang world even though I own two. One is a 93 LX with a 4 popper for my youngest daughter, the other is a 1999 GT Vertauto, which is my new toy. I have been a big MOPAR fan for many years and have a project 69 Super Bee. Not a HEMI car, but it's a 440 six pack that just screams and requires a neck brace to drive.

I have just recently went off-roading with my 1999 Mustang in a recent unexpected snow storm, and it's in the Ford dealer to be repaired. I managed to completely remove the front bumper, headlights, fog lights, flatten a couple of tires, damage the rims, tear up the rear bumper cover, who know's what underneath and destroy the exhaust system, but I look at this like a good thing.

I will get the estimate tomorrow, but I have talked to the dealer and they are willing to install aftermarket components. I figured I may as well have them install the Magnaflow X pipe with cats and the Magnaflow cat backs. I asked about body kits, but apparently most require more time tosand and install then factory parts. He did say they were willing to install the Saleen body kit. I've read some post regarding dealers and aftermarket componets, so I thought I would share this information with you. The car is still under an extended warrenty and my insurance will cover the cost of my first modifications as far as the exhaust goes.

My next mods will be a Densecharger CAI, Superchip and a Transgo shift kit.

Keep those Mustangs off the ice and I will keep you posted as far as the dealer modifications.

Don't waste money on the Densecharger, do a search, you gain nothing.

I agree with NO2, take it back to stock and try to get rid of it, especially if your going to mod it, you'll run into problems down the road.

Why should he get rid of it? If he owns it and isn't making payments, why not keep it and do whatever he wants to it? Busting a front bumper, headlights & fog's isn't life ending damage.

My GT was tore up pretty good and I'm still getting book value for a trade in....

There is no guarentee the chassis is going to be tweaked. My friends Mustang challenged a tree in a fight and it was straight as can be. If the dealership is fixing it & insurance is going to pay (who are the stingiest bastards ever), chances are the car is okay.

BTWmy cars accident was never reported. It won't show up on CarFax.

I will be keeping the car, and the unibody is straight. My estimate came in at $7800. Replacing damn near everything at the radiator and forward. Appears that I was lucky at the angle in which I went off the road. Aft damage was the exhaust pipes and tips, rear bumper cover, tires and wheels, and the fuel tank. I was told that Verts have a reinforced undercarriage, and my undercarriage was hardly touched.

My Magnaflow cats and cat back have been ordered by myself. The Ford dealer told me that if they ordered them, I would have to pay a $191 handling charge.. Not sure what that deal is. The parts are more then my decuctible, so they will cut me a check for the difference.

I don't plan on doing any serious modifications to the car, so I'm pretty sure once it's repaired all will be well again.. Hopefully..
