Default Blower on a mach

I'm looking to get the KB 1.7L Blower for my mach (cause, while losing functionality, the shaker can still reattach to the engine and look like it was working :-p) I know the mach's stock pistons (and my current ones) are 10.1:1 Compression, Now It's not safe to run over 8psi at most on those pistons, how hard would it be to find a 99-04 cobra that was junked, and rip the internals out? Or would that not be advised? I know th 03/04 has 8.5.1:1 compression. Thanks

if you found an 03-04 cobra that was junked and all you took was the internals you should have your mustang revoked.

why not take everything?

and you'll never find an 03-04 cobra motor for less than 3000 unless you're very lucky. because ford doesn't sell them as crate motors anymore.

and there is ZERO chance you'll see an 03-04 cobra at a junk yard..........at least not one that you can get into.

I have been looking for a used 99-04 cobra motor for a little while. the cheapest I have found is $2500. You can buy a new short block for that price. Your better off keeping your aluminum block and just changing your pistons, you may have to change your rods too Im not sure. If you have a manual transmission than you have a forged crank, if you have an auto you have a cast crank, and you would be better of changing it to a forged one.

Revoke my mustang? You've lost it! I've allready got the aluminum block and forged crank, so why not just take the rest of the internals (and maybe the blower) But, regardless, who would be the best pistons/rods to order from? I'm alos looking at the FR500 DOHC upgrade kit (for s/c applications).

Just buy a good forged kit from somewhere. It'll be a lot easier to do that then to actually find a junked cobra that still has the motor let alone having to strip the things out of it.

the o3 and 04 are the ones with the good rods and pistons. you can buy a good set of rods and pistons for your car for about 8 to 900 then you would basicaly have the same bottom end as a 0304 cobra.
