Default bullit head and intake swap on nonpi??

http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Garage/9231/

this guy had the bullit heads and intake swapped onto his nonpi mustang and had about 100hp gains. i thought that they wouldnt work with a nonpi block. are these the same heads as the cobra and mach 1's? why dont people usually do the bullit swap instead of the plain old stock pi swap?

if you read further down this is what he acutally has
Extrude Honed Bullitt Intake (costs more than just pi intake)
Fox Lake CNC ported Stage 2 PI heads, ModMax Valves, Valvesprings & Cams.
with all that he is seeing that 100 hp jump.

maybe he did the bullitt swap instead of normal stock because bullitt is an aluminum intake vs. plastic?

ahh my bad didnt see that part, i just clicked the link. yes he probably got the bullit intake because it was aluminum, therefore you could extrude hone it and it uses a different throttle body. idk if you would do that to plastic and the aluminum looks cooler

^^not to mention the strength factor. a plastic intake is just a stupid idea entirely.

Having the alternator mounting to a composite x-over is a bad idea.

I think ford found that one out the hard way

The idea of the composite intake is a solid one though.

It will transfer less from the head to the air, which is good for HP.

I remember taking my cast-iron "rocket" manfold off my big-block olds... just a lil heavy!

So it also adds to your power:weight ratio.

i think the bullit intake and tb setup looks cooler too[sm=drooldude.gif]

after seeing that site, it gave me some ideas about my future plans for my car.

aftermarket pi heads p&p instead of stock pi heads
aftermarket cams instead of stock pi ones
bullit intake instead of stock pi one

might as well save the money to buy better ones istead of paying for stock parts and have them installed and then paying for better stuff and having them installed.

Hey M1ke, take a look at Fox Lake Raceing's P-51 intake also, for the price of the stock Bullitt you can also get one of thoes and you probley would see some better gains from it than you will with the bullitt. Do a little re-search on both before you decide to get one.

P-51 Manifold kit -$1299.00 USD

Used Bullitt intake - $a lot less

Plus, the P-51 is plain fugly.

If you can find a used one, and if not they are only about $100 or difrferent in price to purchase, then with the bullitt you have to buy all the extras to make it work (new TB because it uses the Cobra style, new CAI because the stock one will not work, ect.) You would be really suprised any way you look at it it is going to run $1100-1400 to do a new intake no mater what one you get. And I do believe that the P-51 makes better power all across the board better than the buillet, It may be "ugly" in your eyes, But I really like how it looks, not that looks really matter because it is under the hood anyhow!!
