i found out tonight that I can get a set of the BFG's on wholesale through a buddy of mine. It might be interesting to put a pair of those on some of the wheels on my 03, then do a few runs on the stock tires, then swap out the rear tires and see just how much of a difference those bad boys will make. thanks for all the replies guys, though now im thrown back in to having to make the decision to start modding it now, or just wait till spring to see what i can do with it bone stock. decisions decisions</P>

if all had gone smootly, about how long would it have taken? also is it really as difficult as some people are telling me? i've been trying to decide if this is something i wantto take on in front of the house or just bite he bullit and have them installed for me. im definitely mechanically inclined, torn down and built up a few motors in the last two years or so, but have yet to dig into a rear end. is there somewhere that shows the process for the swap?</P>

speed...where can you get cheap bfg's I need a set? just bite the bullit and pay the 150 for the gears..they can be a bear to do sumetimes..it if it's not right which I sure it won't be for a first timer you'll get to do it again..just a thought..used a fms gear as it comes with shim and pinion nut.
as for the one who said exhaust is like a sec. faster*L*..I get have to laugh at that

I must be the worst driver in the US- over 20 passes in my 02 GT with exhaust and intake, yet to go sub 14's, or better than 2.5 60 foot. Never saw a stock GT go there either with those goodyears. I will this year though, spending lots of $$$$.

RJM, i agree that those goodyears suck some major *****, but once you get that 60ft down, you'll be well into the 13's. drop some pressure in the tires and try not to spin all the way to the 60ft mark. I was able to pull out a 2.5 in my 95 5spd SHO, and anyone who has been in those know that they suck from the line. someone correct me if im wrong but i think atleast a 2.0-2.1 should be well in the capabilities of a 02 gt with intake and exhaust, even witht the extra weight of being a conv. <edited><editID>speedfreek04</editID><editDate>37999.6932060185</editDate></edited>

I've really become a fan of the BFG drag radials, ever since they were put up against the MT ET streets and were pretty much even with them, which is just incredible for a radial tire. Or if you're looking for a definite road tire with lots of grip, i've found the Kumho ecsta mx's to be impeccable. I had a set on my SHO which had WAY too much torque for a FWD car and they did wonders for my launch. not to mention the fact that i was taking corners in that heavy 4 door faster then i would have taken my 03 mustang gt conv on its stock goodyears at the time. and for $104 a tire(120-130 or so for a mustang i think), they were a great deal to boot especially for a YR rated tire

rjmo, you can expect a mid to high 14 with a convertible. They are a few tenths slower than a coupe. I had a 03 GT coupe, and it was running 13.9 with a few bolt ons. My 60' times were 2.1's that day, probably could have pushed a 13.7-13.8 out of it, but didn't have many miles on it, and I felt guilty to push it much harder. So, you won't get 13's for sure with your listed mods, but you can improve that 60'. <IMG src=smileys/smiley20.gif border="0">
