How am i misimformed? Most tuners that I know request the use of a certain chip or tuner. Most I have seen do use the xcal2 b/c that's what their software is setup for. I never said the xcal2 was a chip.

I was under the impression that the xcal2 was software to load into a lap top. There are some generic set ups to chose from or you could email the factory and they can advise you or flash you a chip. for ease i am leaning toward Diabilo it sounds easier. I am in no big hurry so I may just hold off a while until Isee one that jumps out me

Ive been doing all this reading on diablo predator, xcal 2 when they talk about flash what is that? I am far from a mechanic and the word flash keeps showing up and I get lost. Im thinking flashing chip to change it then you would lose your factory settings. Hope someone can clairfy this for me.
Thanks

In the old days..[&:]..and some people now..still use a chip. They either take their car to a shop that burns the chip or they have the chip mailed to them for their car. Only problem with this is that you have to send the chip back to them for any modifications of the tune. Nowadays..lol...most people have gone to either the Diablo Predator or the SCT or other various handheld tuners. Positive to these are you can make minor adjustments to the tune your self as well as email the tune back and forth for your car. Some people say that it is bad to "piggy back" your computer with a chip. The tuner itself is like taking windows 98 off your computer and putting XP back in. After doing so you can have your car dynoed at a local shop and email the sheet to your tuner and he can fine tune the original tune and send it back to you. You just plug your handheld tuner into your computer and download the tune and then upload the tune into your car. Hope this helped-Shane
