Default Methanol injection on NA motors

Anybody have any idea the affect that methanol injection would have on a naturally aspirated motor?

probably not much since you don't hear of anyone doing it. i don't see how it would work though i don't even know what it is, i just see it in the mags when i look through. test it out and let us know

since the idea behind it is colder air more dense and more power, i would have to assume that it would still work on a non s/c or turbo car just not as much, and you would notice it more on 100 degree days in the summer

The methanol only works because the compressed air from your f/i is hotter than ambient temperatures. when the methanol is injected, it's at ambient temp, isn't it? If it is, I don't see how it would have any affect on a n/a motor in which the input air is already at ambient temperature... if it isn't cooling the air, it ain't doing any good.

snow performance told me if i use just methanol itll work almost the same as nitrous. but offers a greater chance of backfiring due to the likely hood of puddleing if i dont have boost shooting the methanol throught the intake fast enough

Methanol is basicaly a race gas that burns super fast. I use it on my ford Deisel, before I got it I had power, but afterwords it was a big kick in the pants. It burns so fast though that I usualy mix water with it, 50/50. Or I just use windshield washer fluid. It has alcahol in it and works just as good. Thats is realy what methanol is similar to is alcahol. And yes if you dont have boost it can cause problems........unless you have a higher pressure pump and a super fine nozzle. http://www.dps-performance.com/ this is the guy that helped me with my truck kit. He makes his own kits. It is not uncommon to build your own kit. various nozzles and pumps can be used to accomplish what you need. He may be able to help, his name is Ken and he does diesel stuff but he is sharp enough about it to probly give you a good answer. Hope I at least contributed some good BS here!
