well one thing i see that isnt true is the 99 gts come with a 8 bolt flywheel..99 - mid 01 just thought I would add that just pulled the motor for forged internals

I was reading that there is a cooling problem on the 4.6 heads, causing 7 & 8 to over heat. It's a flow problem and can be resolved but they said you have to pull the trans to do it. I would post the link but it's on another board and I don't think that would be to cool.
Say WHAT?

There's a problem with the heads, so you need to pull the transmission? Stop to think about it for a second. The heads can be pulled without removing the engine.

I haven't heard of this problem, and 7 & 8 are usually not trouble cylinders... You would have to be running your stang real hard all day to have a problem with it I would think.
Yes definately a cooling issue with the #7&8 because of poor coolant flow. Some guys will run a 1 step cooler plug in 7 & 8 to help with this. Search for the Coolant mod on Mod Depot and you'll find a few how to threads with pictures. It is really hard to do with the engine in the car.
I'll be doing it myself when the new engine is ready to go in.

1999 Cobra: Hypereutectic cast alloy shallow skirt with friction reducing coating on sliding surfaces
1999 GT: ???

Not really.

Cobras starting in '99 used flat topped forged pistons, the GT's used the Hypereutectic cast alloy shallow skirt with friction reducing coating on sliding surfaces. I know this because I just had to replace one of the pisons in my '00 GT '99 GT's had SLIGHTLY less compression compared to '00, like a few tenths of a point difference.

I am really not to impressed with the 99 cobras.. my neighbor had one with a long list of bolt ons and i walked him with my 99GT that has exhaust and intake!! a month later he sold it and got a 03 cobra.. now the tables have turned[]
Someone couldn't drive their Cobra,of should have fixed whatever was wrong with it.
