2001 4.6 SOHC cam swap HELP
hey, well i have a 2001 ford mustang GT 4.6 SOHC, and well i would love to put some cams in it. But, i do not want to pull the engine. How hard will it be to put the cams in and what all do i need, like valve springs timing chains, or new followers. So if you have some tips, or some website where i can by how to books, that would be freakin sweet.

Why would you have to pull the engine?
A cam swap is rather straight forward. If you are having to ask how hard it is or where to buy the book, you should probably find a friend with experience or leave it to the pro's though...

well if you go with say a VT stage one cam you dont need anything but the cams and some know-how. however if you go with a more agressive stage two your gonna need springs and a new tune. stage three is springs and tune plus a bunch of other stuff = PITA

You'll need quiet a couple of parts that you're not informed of when you purchase a cam. I have a 99 GT, i started swapping cam around January, the car is still missing parts. I am in Aruba so when I order something it takes me 3 weeks to get here. I first bought a comp cam, it got here, we realised that the stock cam gears are pressed in to the stock cam, only ford dealers can get them out. I dont have a ford dealer here, so i ordered 2 cam gears. Now that we got the gears, we found out that the gear isnt tight around the cam. We called Summit tech line and they informed us we need to get 2 cam spacers, washers and bolts at a Ford dealer. But theyr out of stock, so 3 weeks again. If somebody had told me I needed all those extra stuff I would have bought them from the start, but even the Summit sales clerk said I wouldnt need anything but the cam gears. Basically I'm waiting cause i think its worth it, but I remember swapping cams in my 94 camaro z28, it took less than a week..just buy a cam, lifters and springs And none of this crap that ford is giving me.
