Do you think that my Magna O/R X pipe will pass the damned emissions?..of course not, any dummy would know that..When Inspection time comes I will swap it for the stock Multi catted H-pipe, easy to do, man get the O/R X-pipe , is not "really loud"..listen to my exhaust clip link below........

As for the 75mm t/b...w/the upper intake plenum it works great, as well as w/a blower, but if you are going to keep it stock don't go any bigger than a 70mm.

Also, stay away from CAI...not worth a crap, except the Steeda, & K&N FIPK one, but they are not worth the money. For a little more you can get a Pro-M, or C&L w/twice the benefit.

You suggest using a Pro-M or C&L trueflow pipe which touts big HP gains. But these units use very large Mass Air Sensors which cause near stock 4.6 2V's to run lean. Thiscreates pinging. I know about this. I had my experiences. Unless you are going to run supercharger, I would highly suggest staying with the stock sensor. As far as CAI, granted, they are not worth the money. Or should I say, they are not worth the "bang for the buck" One thing is true: engines run better on cool, dense air in the fender wellas opposed tohot air from inside the hood. ESPECIALLY in the winter with sub freezing temps.The4.6 really responds to the colder temps. As far as Magna Catted X Pipe. I run this pipe. I guarantee it delivers a 6 rwhp gain over stock. You can run this pipe w/o cats but it is very loud and it will not pass emissions and it will deliver 9 rwhp over stock, dyno tested. In regard to the C&L Plenum, indeed it is worth the $189. It delivers 11 rwhp in combination with the 75mm TB. And guess what? It is C&L who is developing the LOWER intake to go with the UPPER PLENUM. The two together is supposed to create dramatic HP gains. Definiately go for the plenum - absolutely, positively.

Well, with all the increased air flow, of course you are going to run lean. That's only common sense, but that is why you get a custom dyno'd chip. I also heard about the lower intake, but I've heard not set prices yet, but rumor is that it will be expensive. Do you know any unofficial prices?

For arguments sake, I know a lot of guys w/the C&L or Pro-M setup, & not all of them have chips...none of them have had to deal w/'pinging.' As soon as the weather breaks, I will finish my car modding w/in 2wks time, get my dyno, get my chip, & be happy for a while. CAI are a waste of money when u get a m.a.m. setup that'll perform better. There are steps that can be taken to comfort ya if you are scared it's running 'too' lean. Once he starts serious modding...he's gonna scrap the CAI anyway, I'm just trying to save him some money.

I was just looking into either a Steeda CAI (or densecarger)or a C&L maf and inlet pipe. So without getting a chip I should probally not get the C&L?

I wanted do a little minor intake work as well as 3.73s and then save up for bigger mods.

You are fine. A chip is not necessary to run a pipe. You will, however, need to have your computer flashed to set your speedo correctly should you run 3:73's. In any regard, computer flashes on a dyno are soooo much better than preprogrammed chips as the programmer can make specifics mods to suit your application.

What I understand is C&Lis in the midst of the developmental stages of a new lower intake and are dyno testing it as we speak. Adjustments will obviously have to be made before full scale production will be done. It is supposed to go hand in hand with their upper intake, each facilitating the other for max flow. As far as cost? All I gather is that they are will make it as cost effective as possible. Their upper plenum is set at $189. To me, that is a flat out bargin. It was their plan to sell it cost effectively and they will follow suit with their lower intake as well. This bolt on should hopefully be available in June. I would expect the price to be in the $450 to 550 range. Once we get out hands on the lower intake, all we have to do is somehow port the2Vheads to match the air flow capabilities of the intake. I would expect tremendos HP gains, especially with a complete exhaust system.

If I do get the C&L maf and inlet pipe should i go ahead and do a 70mm TB or is it pointless with my more or less stock car?

nice input guys...the exhaust needs adressed first..and traction need addressed before more hp is on tap if it can't get to the gound you have wasted your $$$$$..a tweecer rt or pms might be the first "tool" you buy if your going to upgrade your car..just stock the pms will get you 20 hp but not cost eff. for just that but will let you get the most out of each piece you add...
