Default 1998 GT vert to a 2005 4.0??

Been considering this for months now. I have a 1998 gt ragtop and it has been a great car. Im just not a huge convertible guy (got it from my uncle a few years ago for a grand with 62 thousand miles on it.....so I wasn't about to let a ragtop scare me off!) I also am not a fan of the auto tranny at all, a sin in my opinion. The car is also kind of squeaky as many of the sn95s are....but mainly, I want a coupe, and I want a 5 speed! Now I know that these were not the fastest gts ever, in fact probably one of the slowest, but it still has plenty of power to put a big grin on my face Now I have been considering purchasing a 2005 v6, premium, with a 5 speed. I really love that body style and the interior is faaar superior. My only concern is that it will be a giant turd performance wise......anyone know if, coming from a 1998 gt, will this car (2005 v6)feel slow or is it about in the same ballpark as my vert?? thanks a million!!

Should be similar performance to your 98... you won't have the awesome exhaust sound....The 2005 will probably have better handling and definitely better gas mileage. Newer doesn't always mean better though. I'd find one you could take for a test drive and go from there

The 4.0L SOHC is basically the same engine that's in the explorer. Funny stuff, I had a 96 GT vert and a 97 explorer sport at the same time and they were very close in performance. So yeah, I would put money on that V6 being faster than your current GT.
