Default Throttle body cable

I installed a new TB on my 02 GT and broke the black plastic cable end that attaches to the TB. The other cable and spring are fine as is the TPS. I ordered the plastic end from Ford but my question is, what does that cable do? The car starts and runs fine in the garage. Is it safe to drive, anybody know?

I did the same thing, but I broke the one on the TB I was taking off. I think it just holdes the tb open when u hit the gas. When you mess with the screw it permanently holds the tb open for you idle, thats most likely when starts and idles fine.

I am not sure what you mean. I broke the one off when I was removing as well, I am thinking maybe it is the cruise control cable?
