Default Engine Oil

I was ogin to buy mobil 1...

I got a few things stright, full synthetic, 6.5 quarts, and I was going with the ACdelco filter.

I was asking if you could put 5w30 into an 02 mustang gt when it calls for 5w20

At walmart they dont have the 5 quart jugs in 5w20 but they do have them in 5w30

It is normally 5.52 a quart for the mobil 1, they do have just single quarts. If I buy the big 5 quart jug i save some money but I would have to buy 5w30 and 2 more quarts.

Should I buy 7 quarts of 5w20 or would it be ok to buy the 1 5 q jug of 5w30 and 2 seperate quarts of 5w30 (assuming I shouldnt buy the 2 extra in 5w20 but the 5 quarts in 5w30 cuz mixing the moil might not be good.)

Basically is it safe to run 5w30 instead on 5w20 on a 02 mustang gt , 27K miles.

ACDelco filter good to?? or suggest others??

It's safe but there's no point.

Quit trying to save a buck, it'll bite you in the *** down the road.

Actually you only need 5 quarts. SOHC- 5 quarts, DOHC- 6 quarts. At least that's what it says on our computers at Advance. But since ours doesnt have a dipstick, there's really no way to tell. But I've used 5 quarts and everything runs great.

You can run 5w30. The weights of oil really isn't a big deal. The weight of oil depends on the temperature. There's a chart somewhere saying what oils best for what temperature.

That's why you don't trust a computer all the time.. I know it takes at least 6 sometimes a little more in mine.. It even says so in the back of my manual.

4.6 GT's require 6 quarts with filter change. That is what my '98 GT takes everytime. I use Royal Purple 5W-30 and the car loves it. http://royalpurple.com/techa/whyrpa.html
